The Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Ukraine will receive a second SAMP/T air defense system

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani confirmed that the new military aid package to Ukraine includes the SAMP/T air defense system, as previously reported by the media.

The Italian Foreign Minister confirmed that the government is preparing “another package” of military aid, the content of which, as in previous cases, will be confidential.

“But it is known that we will send SAMP-T, which is an air defense system, that is, the protection that Ukraine itself asked us for, it is not a secret,” he added.

Tajani simultaneously emphasized that Italy will not send troops to Ukraine, and Italian weapons cannot be used to strike Russia.

Earlier, media reported that Italy may approve a new military aid package with an air defense system after the Group of Seven summit in mid-June.

Ukraine received its first SAMP/T system, also known as MAMBA, in 2023. This Franco-Italian battery can track dozens of targets and intercept 10 simultaneously – and it is also the only European-made system capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
